It was beautifully located. Lush nature, beautiful grounds with a lovely view on a river. Tastefully decorated individual thatched roof huts. Very professional, helpful and pleasant owners. The cuisine was excellent and the ambience delightful.

The road to the lodge Is a long dirt road, which might be problematic if it rains and gets muddy.

Hans and his wife Mpumi are wonderful hosts, very knowledgeable about the area and made us feel right at home. The grounds of the property are beautiful, the rondavel style cottage was lovely, overlooking the Sabie river. It was definately an oasis to return to at the end of a day of sightseeing or game viewing. The optional breakfasts were terrific(we never missed out). The property is only a 12 minute drive into Hazyview, where we went out for most dinners. Kruger National Park is about 15 minutes past Hazyview(through Phabeni Gate) and the Blyde river Canyon is about 45 minutes away.

The only drawback about the property is the access road off the R40. It is a 12 minute dirt road with lots of ruts and potholes, daunting the first time, but increasingly easier as we got the knack of it. I felt that the reward of staying at such a gorgeous location more than made up for the road.

Hi our stay at Jackalberry Farm and Lodge was great. My husband forgot his laptop in the cottage and the owner Hans was kind enough to call us and keep it till it was picked up the next day. Further, the stay was very pleasant and the property well maintained.

One suggestion, however, is that the lodge puchases some new bath towels. Some of the towels they had were rather thin and worn out.

It was second to nothing. This is the top one I ever been at and we are family that travel a lot. Breakfast was great. Ask for the special bread Max is (the owner) is doing by himself - it is a dream bread. The location is not fat from Kruger park and close to Blyde national park and Max will explain you a lot regarding the area surrounding the gusts house. We stayed at the cottage and found it just perfect. The river near by will give you the best relaxed "Coffee time" in the morning. Hope I could come there again - if not for the vacation - for the bread Max do in the morning.

The host, Hans, was quite friendly and gave us excellent information on local sites and restaurants. The rondevals are near the river, and we saw plenty of birds and it was nice to be far away from any traffic noise. The breakfast was good, and happily served.

the facilities were absolutely spotless clean. the room friendly and inviting. Hans, the host an extremely friendly swiss man who likes to make his guests happy. the chalets are on the banks of the sand river and you hear the hippo's at night, during the days a colourful birdlife can be experienced. we had the 50% discount offer but also at full price still worth every penny! the chalets have a mini-bar and a small fridge for the guests needs and cooking is done on braai on the doorstep. a beautiful veranda makes your grill to a very enjoyable occasion.

the lodge is 2km from the main road and very dusty

The rooms were clean and the beds were very comfortable. Each bungalow had its own toilet & shower, so this was good news!

The wi-fi, although free, is not limitless. If your teenage kids stay up posting pictures and videos, or watch You-Tube (what the owner may refer to as "software downloading"...), you, the parent, will get a extended, yet convivial, butt chewing, & the threat of additional charges...

Nice friendly welcome. Clean rooms with all the amenities I needed.

A wireless internet connection would have been a bonus.

Family run, Jackalberry farm is an oasis in the countyside. The challenging access along 2.5km of unmade road is made worthwhile by he beauty of the surroundings when you arrive. the owner, Johann, is also the chef and provided us with excellent evening meals at very reasonable prices. The Rondavels are spacious, clean and charming but you need to watch out for the occasional hippo as the farm sits on the banks of the Sabie river.

Some people might be put off by the access. Dont be, its no problem providing you take it slow.

Beautiful grounds and gardens. Doesn't seem to be many hotels in Hazyview that have room for three people, so it was nice that we could get a cottage. Owner is very friendly and interesting to speak with. Liked that you could check out at 11am (later than other hotels).

Cottage may not have been used for a few days and minor bugs, etc. Road is not paved and quite bumpy. Beds were very hard.

Beautiful setting with chalets overlooking lush gardens and the river. Outside dining is wonderful , table setting lovely and food delicious. Host iss very chatty and helpful.

The road in is long and very bumpy but well worth the effort.

The location is quite picturesque, adjacent to a river and amidst nature. Rooms are clean, well separated from one another and offers good privacy. Being a hippo zone, offered quite a bit of adventure!

The access road is quite bad, its quite scary driving in the night. Room is decent but a little cramped on space.
